RELATIONAL LITERACY
A practice in conscious relationship.
A six-week experiential cohort for women
Relational Literacy is the practice of bringing increasing consciousness, self-contact, and choice into the way we relate.
It is the capacity to remain in relationship with ourselves while we are in relationship with another—to notice what is happening within us, reveal our experience honestly, become curious about the beliefs and meanings shaping what we perceive, discern what is actually true for us, and choose how we want to participate from there.
Because relationship asks us to hold something beautifully complex:
I am having a real experience.
You are having a real experience.
Neither of us has to disappear for both to exist.
Relational Literacy develops our capacity to meet that complexity with greater curiosity, humility, differentiation, authorship, and choice.
These are human capacities—not capacities specific to romantic relationship. They shape the way we meet partnership, parenting, family, friendship, work, community – anywhere one self encounters another.
Most of us were never explicitly taught how to do this.
We learned ways of preserving connection, often at the expense of ourselves. We learned to protect identity, often at the expense of the bond. We learned to avoid pain, often at the expense of both ourselves and the bond. And we learned to make sense of what happened to us through stories that aren't always inclusive of the deepest, most whole truth and information available to us.
These strategies are deeply human. And they can become so automatic that we move from experience → interpretation → reaction without ever realizing how much happened in between.
Relational Literacy creates more space in that sequence.
More consciousness.
More capacity.
More choice.
NOTICE → SHARE → INQUIRE → OWN → REPAIR
The first cohort is forming now.
❋ SELF-CONTACT Relationship begins before another person enters the room. We practice noticing sensation, emotion, activation, impulse and protection before interpretation takes over.
❋ EXPRESSIONEmotion is not only something to understand. Through sound, movement, breath and honest expression, we create greater capacity to remain in relationship with what we feel.
❋ CONSCIOUS INQUIRYWe become curious about the beliefs, narratives, meanings and identities shaping our perception—loosening certainty enough for discovery and discernment to become possible.
❋ AUTHORSHIPWe practice owning what is ours without collapsing into self-blame or making another person responsible for our internal world. From greater consciousness comes greater choice.
THE CONTAINER
Six Tuesday evenings · 6:00–8:30pm
October 6–November 10 · Bend, Oregon
6–8 women · 15 live hours together
LIVE EXPERIENCE
Fifteen hours of facilitated teaching, experiential practice, somatic and emotional exploration, relational practice, reflection and integration across six weeks.
INTEGRATION RESOURCES
You'll receive a small collection of practical resources designed to help you bring the work into your actual life—including the Relational Literacy Continuum, a somatic self-contact map, and an inquiry guide for moving from activation toward discernment and conscious choice.
BETWEEN OUR GATHERINGS
A private Telegram space will support connection, reflection, integration prompts, and shared resources throughout the cohort. The facilitated container will begin approximately one week before our first gathering and continue through the week following our final gathering; participants are welcome to keep the group open for continued peer connection afterward.
Founding Cohort Tuition: $300
A limited number of supported-access spaces are available for women for whom full tuition would be a barrier to participation. No explanation or justification of financial circumstances is required.
If something in you recognizes this work, add your name here. I'll send details and first access when enrollment opens.
Can I remain in relationship with myself
while I am in relationship with you?
Can I remain home inside myself while another human being remains fully themselves?
THE RELATIONAL LITERACY CONTINUUM
From Reaction to Conscious Relationship
Relational Literacy isn't about becoming perfectly calm, never getting triggered, or learning the right words to say.
It's about developing capacities that create more consciousness—and therefore more choice—inside relationship.
Inquiry doesn't ask us to explain away impact, mistrust our experience, or decide that everything we feel is projection. It helps us become intimate enough with our experience to discern the information it contains: patterned activation, present-day impact or harm, genuine values misalignment—or, often, more than one thing at once.
Self-responsibility is not self-blame. Authorship does not require us to deny impact.
NOTICEWhat am I feeling and experiencing?
SHARECan I honestly share my experience with another?
INQUIREWhat meaning am I making?
What beliefs are shaping this interpretation?
OWNWhat is mine to own?
REPAIRYour experience is valid. Mine is too.
How do we move forward together?
SIX WEEKS OF PRACTICE
-
Self-awareness, self-contact, emotional and nervous-system literacy. Learning to notice experience before narrative takes over.
-
Vulnerability, willingness, expression and witnessing. Practicing the difference between revealing our experience and reporting our interpretation as fact.
-
Belief, narrative, meaning, projection and identity. Becoming curious about how our internal architecture shapes the reality we experience.
-
Accountability, emotional responsibility, values and discernment. Learning to own what is ours, recognize what isn't, and recover choice.
-
Differentiation, individuation, safeguards and mutuality. Practicing relationship without fusion, control, self-abandonment or requiring sameness.
-
Impact, humility, rupture, reciprocity and repair. Exploring what it means to honor multiple realities—and recognizing that conscious relationship doesn't always mean staying.
Something in you saying yes?
The founding Relational Literacy cohort will be intentionally small: 6–8 women practicing together for six weeks.
If this work feels alive or relevant to you, add your name. There's no commitment in raising your hand—you'll simply be the first to receive enrollment details.
